This is a small part of the process that happens after the appointment. I share it online so my customers can have a sneak peak of what their finished keepsake will look like. There are many stages that will happen before it is finished, this is a tiny snippet of one.

The pink material is called alginate and is one time use only. It's the same stuff they use in dentistry to take impressions of your teeth. It smells a little minty but doesn't taste nice (lots of people want to eat it which is why I say that haha). It's made from seaweed and gets composted.

The sculpture is made from an incredibly strong casting stone (not plaster of paris), and will become one of the most precious items that someone will own.

I'm a lifecasting artist based in Wellington, New Zealand and began this business after my son was born 3 months prematurely. I LOVE what I do, and I'm so lucky to create special pieces of art for so many people.
