Ashtadasha Peetalu (or Ashtadasha Shakthi Peetas) refers to the 18 Shakthi Peethas – Sacred temples or shrines dedicated to Goddess Shakthi (the Devine Mother) across the Indian subcontinent. According to Hindu mythology, these are the places where the body parts of Sati (Goddess Parvathi), the first consort of Lord Shiva, are believed to have fallen when Lord Vishnu cut her body into pieces to stop Shiva’s destructive grief after Sati’s self-immolation. These shrines are considered highly revered, and each one symbolizes a part of goddess’s body.

7. Mahalakshmi – Located in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India where the three Eyes of Goddess Sati fell.
8. Ekaveera Devi – Located in Mahur, Maharashtra, India where the Right Shoulder of Goddess Sati fell.
9. Mahakali – Located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India where the Upper Lip of Goddess Sati fell.
