The Bears are sending a 6th round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to Miami for Grant, who will likely serve as the punt returner and a gadget player for Matt Nagy’s offense. Grant is in his sixth NFL season out of Texas Tech. Jakeem Grant has struggled in 2021 both as a WR and with ball security. Grant is dead last in the NFL with -7 receiving yards on 2 catches. He also has 2 fumbles, 1 as a returner and one as a receiver. Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Pace might have overpaid by sending a 2023 3rd round pick, but if Grant can get back to being an elite returner and gadget player on offense, it could end up being good value. Grant will likely replace Nsimba Webster as the Bears’ punt returner. This could also mean that Tarik Cohen’s injury recovery is behind schedule after tearing his ACL last year.
