If you own livestock then you probably need to have running water near your barn. Unfortunately most setups need to be shut down for the winter.

BUT NOT A YARD HYDRANT! Yard Hydrants are frost free, as the water in them above the ground drains out below the frost line.

To install a yard hydrant you need to trench a waterline from your well to the location of the hydrant. A hydrant should be buried below the frost line, which may be as deep as 4 feet or more in some places.

Once the yard hydrant is attached to the well line, backfill it and turn on the water. It is as simple as that!
