The Wagah Border is a famous border crossing and ceremonial checkpoint between India and Pakistan. It is situated near the town of Wagah in the Amritsar district of the Indian state of Punjab and the city of Lahore in the Pakistani province of Punjab. The border is approximately 29 kilometers (18 miles) from the city of Amritsar in India and about 22 kilometers (14 miles) from Lahore in Pakistan.

What makes the Wagah Border particularly well-known is the daily Beating Retreat ceremony that takes place there. This ceremony is a military display and a symbol of the longstanding rivalry and tensions between India and Pakistan. It is characterized by elaborate drills, marches, and coordinated movements by the border security forces of both countries.

The ceremony occurs just before sunset and involves the lowering of the national flags of both India and Pakistan. The border guards from both sides engage in a display of aggressive posturing, high kicks, and synchronized moves that have become a spectacle for tourists and visitors.

The Wagah Border ceremony serves as a symbol of the complex relationship between India and Pakistan, as well as a tourist attraction drawing crowds from both countries and around the world who come to witness this unique display of military showmanship.
