The BEST Way To Install a Honda CB750 Engine Into a Frame | CB750 SOHC Cafe Racer Project Bike | 22

In this video with the help of my family I put the engine back into the frame of my CB750 SOHC Cafe Racer project bike. It is a very heavy engine, and only just fits into the frame.

The wisdom seems to be that it is best to fit the frame around the engine, with it on the floor. This would be because the frame is a lot lighter to move around. Never wanting to make things easy, I have built up the frame into a full rolling chassis, so the weight advantage wasn’t quite as much in our favour.

I realised that even when you are fitting the frame to the engine it will only go in from the left hand side. There are two removable bracket on that side, but even with these removed the engine doesn’t just slip in.

It took both my son and I to manhandle the frame with my lady wife helping to finesse it into the frame. Because it wasn’t just a bare frame, it did take a little more grunting and groaning than we had hoped.

Luckily, the engine went in quite well in the end, and there was very little damage done. The exhaust studs did take a little paint off one of the downtubes, but it should be reasonably easy to fix.
