7. The phrase “whether you’re this or that” does not actually speak to your reader, it alienates them. Instead, identify the emotional thread that all of them may be feeling and instead speak to that.
8. However, labelling emotions is not leading with empathy—leading with empathy requires showing you have a deep understand of the reader’s problem and how to solve it without telling them what they’re feeling.
9. Everyone wants to know price first, it should always be close to the top if a cost is involved.
10. “Tense jumbles” sound like: You ought to not want to move forward with this idea if you meet any of the following criteria:
11. Instead, delete the jumble and replace with a command verb that makes sense: Consider alternatives if you:
12. It’s okay to cite strong stats if it supports your messaging even if it comes from a competitor.
13. Don’t answer a question with a list of questions. Instead, answer them.
14. Rewrite “By doing X, you can Y” by deleting “by” and turning it into a “command verb, so you can, get benefit” – but remember that the conclusion is the place to offer the reader the next step in their journey, which may be to go on to compare brands, OR it could be to consider another type solution altogether.
