What happens on a timber cruise?

Описание к видео What happens on a timber cruise?

A Rayonier forester shows what happens during a timber cruise. A "cruise" is when a forester collects information like tree measurements at specific plots, used to calculate the amount of timber a forest contains. Having an accurate inventory of our land is critical to our business. Our cruises also allow our foresters to spot any threats to the trees, such as disease or insects, so they can be treated.

Our foresters also ensure we're protecting endangered species and maintaining Streamside Management Zones, also known as SMZs, which are forests we plant and maintain specifically to protect waterways and the ecosystem that depends on them.
