Two & a half minutes from April 2010 - I was shooting for Joe Lauro's documentary: "The Big Beat: Fats Domino & the Birth of Rock 'n' Roll." I heard Fats' dear friend Haydee Ellis say "come in the bedroom, Fats is playing..." It happened so fast. I had to grab the camera and go. We were shooting in his living room where he had a new grand piano but he didn't want to play that; he'd rather play this little one in his bedroom. A rare moment - he had stopped playing in public some years before.
