Muthra Fort, built by the Portuguese in the 1580s in Mutrah, Oman, was a strategic defense stronghold overlooking the Gulf of Oman. It safeguarded Muscat's harbor and trade routes until the Omanis reclaimed it in 1650 under Imam Sultan bin Saif al-Yarubi. The fort's architecture blends Portuguese and Omani styles, with watchtowers and battlements atop a rocky hill. Today, it stands as a symbol of Omani independence and is a popular tourist site offering panoramic views of the Mutrah Corniche and harbor.
