Are you planning to invest in Dubai real estate? Then this is one of the most important videos you’ll watch.
In this video, I break down the difference between Freehold and Leasehold properties in Dubai, why it matters before you invest, and how it can impact your long-term goals — especially if you want to pass your property on to your family.
What’s the difference?
*Freehold Property* means you own the property and the land it stands on, permanently. You have full ownership rights, can sell it, rent it, or pass it on to future generations.
*Leasehold Property* means you lease the property for a limited period — usually **up to 90 years**. You don’t own the land, and once the lease expires, the ownership reverts back to the landlord or developer unless it's renewed.
So, if you’re thinking of real estate as a **legacy investment**, choosing between Freehold and Leasehold makes a big difference.
Which Areas in Dubai Are Freehold & Leasehold?
In the video, I’ve also shared a *list of popular Freehold areas* like:
Downtown Dubai
Business Bay
Dubai Marina
Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC)
Palm Jumeirah
Dubai Hills Estate
Arjan
Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT)
And some *Leasehold areas* such as:
Jumeirah (old town area)
Al Barsha South
Deira
Al Safa
Mirdif
Al Nahda
Always check the property title or confirm with your agent before buying — especially if you are a non-GCC national.
Why It’s Important to Know:
*Freehold* gives you the **right to full ownership**, better resale potential, and long-term value.
*Leasehold* properties may be cheaper, but they come with restrictions and cannot always be passed on to your heirs.
Some investors buy Leasehold unknowingly, which can cause legal or family issues later.
Dubai’s real estate market is one of the most investor-friendly in the world — but it’s important to *know your ownership rights* before signing any deal. If you're buying for long-term family value, inheritance, or legacy building — Freehold may be your best option.
If you need help choosing the right area, type of property, or want a second opinion before buying, I’m here to help.
