This rig consists of a Sufix 100lb. mono wind on leader to 110lb. Malin single strand wire to 6-3/4" Yozuri Bonito with 260lb Billfisher ball bearing swivel.
This is my standard wire to mono connection I use on rigs when toothy critters could potentially be the catch. The 2 main differences are (1) that I reverse my haywire barrel wrap back over my twists rather than continue them up the wire leader because it shortens the total haywire twist length and "locks" over top of the twists & (2) I do not start my Albright Knot by passing the leader through the top of the wire bend as the wire can cut the leader at the connection. Instead I run my leader parallel to the wire bend then barrel wrap back up around the wire bend and leader passing the tag end only through the wire tip bend, this keeps the leader perfectly straight and cinching down on the tag end locking everything in place putting the strain on the mono barrel wrap not the leader against wire which is prone to fail.
Starting with a 24" piece of single strand wire and finishing with about 12" or less of actual wire in the rig is all that is needed as fish tend to hit the rear of the lure. The wire leaders are thinner and less visible than cable but need to be switched out every fish or 2. The increased hookup ration is worth it, especially if you have a few spare rigs on board ready to change out.
This is my HD version and I scale down depending on fishing scenarios all the way down to 20lb Yozuri Pink fluorocarbon to a 4-6" #3 30lb wire tippet for finesse live baiting.
