INSIDE AFRICA’S SLAVE TRADE CASTLES

My recent adventure took me to the captivating landscapes and rich history of Ghana. I began my journey at Kakum National Park, Walking along the famous canopy walkway, I felt as though I was suspended between the treetops, surrounded by the sounds of nature. The breathtaking views offered a glimpse into the park's diverse ecosystem and the sheer beauty of the rainforest.

Next, I ventured to the Elmina Castle, a historical landmark steeped in the poignant tales of the transatlantic slave trade. As I explored its somber halls and learned about its dark past, I was reminded of the resilience of the human spirit.
The castle's architecture is a stark reminder of history, evoking a mix of reflection and reverence.
Continuing my journey, I made my way to Cape Coast Castle, another significant site that tells the story of Ghana's colonial history. The powerful ocean waves crashing against the fortress walls resonated with the echoes of past struggles and triumphs. Standing on the shores, I felt a deep connection to the many lives that had passed through this place🥹🥲.

To round off my experience, l indulged in a delicious plate of waakye, a beloved Ghanaian dish made of rice and beans, served with an array of tasty accompaniments. The rich flavors and vibrant colors of the meal perfectly encapsulated the warmth and hospitality of Ghanaian culture.
This journey through Kakum National Park, Elmina Castle, and Cape Coast Castle, paired with the delightful taste of waakye, offered me a profound appreciation for Ghana's natural beauty, historical significance, and culinary richness. It's a trip that will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️
