With encouraging diplomacy in Bosnia, Russo-American relations
also seem to have calmed down on Thursday (14/9) after a serious
rift began to emerge between Russia and the US. The strain on ties
between the two nations followed Moscow's condemnation of
continued NATO airstrikes, and Wednesday's (13/9) grenade attack
on the US embassy in Moscow. Increased security was in evidence
around the embassy as the investigations into the attack
continued. However the visit to Moscow by US Deputy Secretary of
State, Strobe Talbott, seems to have smoothed over the wrinkles. He told reporters: "There are numerous points of common understanding and
common aspiration between us. The united states and Russian
Federation are working very closely together in pusuit of a common
goal which is a comprehensive peace in the former yugoslavia."
