In this video, I’m sharing the behind-the-scenes of a very special customised painting – a tribute to Namma Chennai. This artwork is entirely hand-painted using watercolors on cotton fabric, capturing the essence of the iconic Chennai Central and the timeless Napier Bridge – symbols of Chennai’s heart and heritage.

This piece was specially commissioned by a client who wanted a unique representation of Chennai’s charm to be used as a personalized keepsake. From the vibrant architecture to the serene blue waters, every detail has been painted with love, patience, and deep admiration for this beautiful city.

About the Artwork:
The painting highlights one of Chennai's most beloved landmarks – Chennai Central architecture, with its clock tower standing tall. In front, you’ll find the Napier Bridge in its elegant curves, a nostalgic sight for every Chennaiite. The lush green backdrop and soft blue skies add a calming depth to the artwork, creating a balanced visual story of the city.

Painted on high-quality cotton fabric, this piece combines the fluid beauty of watercolor with the soft texture of cloth. Painting on fabric requires a different technique and approach compared to paper or canvas – it absorbs paint differently, and the colors must be layered carefully to retain their vibrance. I use a combination of fine brushes and slow layering to ensure each stroke sets well on the fabric.
