So What by Miles Davis is an icon modern jazz standard, that is prominent on every jazz session. In my So What guitar lesson I'll be showing you the famous So What bass line as well as the quartal voicings Miles used in his original composition. They`re actually great guitar chords and part of every modern jazz guitarists repertoire.

So What is a modal tune, that start in D dorian and modulates to Eb dorian in the B section. The famous So What guitar chords are derived from the dorian scale.

Since the So What bass line is a huge part of what makes this song great, I included it in my arrangement. With my guitar tutorial you get the full So What guitar comping explained. In a band setting you can either double the bass line or juast play the So What guitar chords and leave the bass line to the bass player.

I've made the So What guitar tab and the So What bass tabs, which is included as the bass line in the guitar tabs. Standard music notation and guitar tabs are both on the music sheet. The download link is on the top of this description box.
