LPC Loon Cam 1 ~ Mom Loon Incubating Egg Shares Nest With Wood Duck Mom & Duckling! 💕 💞 💕 6.27.24

Описание к видео LPC Loon Cam 1 ~ Mom Loon Incubating Egg Shares Nest With Wood Duck Mom & Duckling! 💕 💞 💕 6.27.24

Mom loon slides into the water to take a break and returns a couple of hours later to incubate at night. She has not been incubating at night consistently since the eggs were laid but she successfully remained on the nest for the entire night! Shortly after she returned to the nest, a Wood Duck Mom & her duckling venture on the nest to spend the night. The ducks had been sleeping on the nest platform for the past few days while the nest was empty. Mom Duck even incubated the egg briefly!

Mom loon was kind enough to share the nest with the duck and duckling ♥ During the night, Mom duck hissed at Mom loon - perhaps trying to get her to leave the nest so she and her duckling could have it all to themselves. But Mom and her duckling went into the water and swam around for a couple of minutes before climbing back on the nest & going over to the corner once again to sleep. 💕💞💕 Thank you for watching!

In the 2023 season for Loon cam 1, territorial disputes led to the nest being left unused, a first in many years. This season, a pair has been visiting the area regularly. The female is a new member of the pair and has no record of nesting. The male has been using this nest for years and can be identified by its unique band colors—white over orange and silver over blue. The female is not banded. LPC loon cam 2 did have a successful season for 2023.
