Barkly RiverJeep Track is rated as one of the hardest tracks in Victorian High Country. There's a warning of serious vehicle damage, mainly panels, at the bottom of the track.
This is the second time we did this track and this time we had 8 vehicles attempting it: Two Toyota Prado 150s, one Land Cruiser 200 and five Nissan Patrols.
We started with three vehicles: Dilan in Prado150, Barba in Gajaba and Bryn in Prado150. One of the challenges was little or no stable trees for winching so if needed to winch you'll need to use another vehicle. Fortunately we only needed to do it once. Another challenge was after a lot of storms there were many washouts and rugged sections and loose gravel which made it hard to start again if you lose the momentum. Once we reached the top other vehicles stared their climb up. Anthony in Land Cruiser 200, MJ, Sachin, Widusha and Dinul in the rest of the Nissan Patrols. Eshan, Shewan, Dilshan and of course Buddy the Red Kelpie joined us too.
One of our vehicles started giving some transmission issues and ended up being undrivable in the middle of the track. It was a real mission to bring it off the track and back to the camp. Another vehicle had some electrical issues but we could fix it on the track. Seven out of Eight vehicles completed the track with no major issues.
