A trip back memory lane as we look at the first StormFilter installed

Описание к видео A trip back memory lane as we look at the first StormFilter installed

It has been 20 years since the first install of the StormFilter cartridge in Australia, and now we've achieved a significant milestone - 30,000 StormFilters installed across Australia.

To take a trip back to memory lane, Mike went back to where we fitted our first StormFilter some two decades ago in Menai, south Sydney. The work completed here has helped prevent pollutants flowing into the Georges River and out to the ocean since the early 2000s. The river is around 100kms long and its catchment is home to around 1.5 million people, 454 species of fauna, 30 riparian or riverside vegetation communities and 29 endangered ecological communities.

The Menai StormFilter system was, at the time, the first to be installed in Australia and one of first in the southern hemisphere. Whilst the technology still holds strong, you can see from the video that maintenance is important.

Since this important milestone, our dedicated team of professionals have not only installed another 30,000 StormFilter cartridges but also been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to protecting our oceans. More specifically, we have been developing different types of media to treat wide range of pollutants including nitrates and PFAS.

These StormFilter media innovation examples are a big step in the direction of stopping pollution reaching our waterways. Nitrate has a very negative impact on marine ecology and leads to algal blooms and ocean dead zones with low oxygen. PFAS chemicals have been attributed to a range of health risks for the greater public.
