M1A1 Abrams VS T-90M | Armour Piercing Simulation

Описание к видео M1A1 Abrams VS T-90M | Armour Piercing Simulation

This simulation shows the impact of the 120mm M829A3 APFSDS-T with a Depleted Uranium penetrator being fired from a US M1A1 Abrams tank at a range of 0.8km, targeting the front hull of a Russian T-90M tank.

In 2017-2021, the Russian government signed a contract for the production of 270 tanks Т-90М. The supply of Т-90М in 2021 was 80 units, in 2022 – about 60, making up 140 in total. The T-90M, while upgraded from the third-generation T-90, is not quite a fourth-generation tank. Rather, the T-90M is a “modernized” third-generation tank.

While the T-90 relied upon Kontakt-5 armor, the M-variant is encased within Relikt built-in Explosive Reactive Armor. The T-90M has other enhanced safety features, too, including rubber side skirts, cage armor, special netting, and spall lining. To further protect the crew, the T-90M uses an NBC system, which uses tank interior sealing and overpressure generation to protect against mass destruction weapons.

The Russian army has reportedly lost over 20 T-90M tanks during the ongoing operations in Ukraine.
