Overkill visited the adidas archive at the company’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach to explore the history behind the ZX line and the adidas ZX 8000 JC & MT CONSORTIUM, the remake of the legendary adidas ZX 8000 FINAL AZX.
The video features interviews with Jacques Chassaing (namesake and creator of the ZX 8000 and numerous other models, former Senior Design Director at adidas), Eyüp Alkan (Senior Product Manager), Christian Otto (Design Director), Markus Walter Thaler (son of Markus Thaler and Manager Digital Technologies Footwear), and Marc Leuschner (Overkill CEO and dedicated ZX collector), offering firsthand insight into the origins, meaning, and execution of this special release.

At the core of the video is the remake of the legendary adidas ZX 8000 FINAL AZX. The original model is still regarded as a symbol of innovation, respect, and sneaker culture at the highest level. It was originally developed by Jacques Chassaing and the late Markus Thaler, and was never intended for retail sale, but rather conceived as a final statement closing the first AZX series.
The release is completed by a second model inspired by the iconic ZX 8000 Aqua, carrying forward the classic ZX DNA and its performance-driven design principles
