In the late '90s, the coaster wars began. Manufacturers from around the world we're building the biggest and baddest roller coasters and amusement & theme parks alike were willing to spend millions of dollars on them. In 2000 Stealth opened to the public. The world's first true flying roller coaster. This model would be such a hit that Vekoma one of the top manufacturers throughout the coaster wars. Built two more flying dutchman roller coasters. In 2001 X-Flight would open at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. Just a few years later the ride would be relocated to Kings Island where it was known as Firehawk. Firehawk would be one of the most popular rides in the park drawing in thousands of people on a daily basis and it would always have one of the longest lines in the park. Just a few years later. Firehawk would close for good and would be replaced by the biggest roller coaster in Kings Island history. So why did it close? Well, let's dive in and learn about The Story Behind Firehawk.
