Disclaimer: Boring Video.
I made this video because I realized alot of people were complaining about an old video I had made with regards to using an external webcam for my imac/macbook. Many webcam's these days don't need drivers at all on the mac.

My test setup was as follows:
camera: microsoft lifecam 720 (cheap.. less then $20 used)
computer: imac 2011 running high sierra (ios 10.13)

The camera is plug and play. Just plug it into the usb port and it automatically installs. Sadly, there is no notification on desktop telling you when it has finished installing. Regardless, once it installs, it's just a matter of you changing the setting within the application you want to use.

For facetime: Menu Bar, then select Video, and finally select your camera.
For photoBooth: Menu Bar, then select Camera, and finally select your camera.

The changes are instant! hopefully it works for your external camera setup!!

Cheers!

Disclaimer: Boring Video. I made this video just for my own information. I don't even advertise my videos. YMMV. If anything, I try to make my video descriptions as descriptive as possible so you don't have to watch the video.
