Pakistan Offers New Port to America Near Gwadar | Big Blow to China? | Geopolitics Explained

In a surprising geopolitical move, Pakistan has offered the United States a chance to build and operate a new port in Pasni, Balochistan — just 112 km away from China-funded Gwadar Port, the heart of the multi-billion dollar CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) project. This shift indicates Pakistan's growing tilt towards the U.S. in search of new investments and economic aid.

Reportedly, Pakistan wants the U.S. to extract and purchase its rare earth minerals through this port, and a new railway line worth ₹11,000 crore (~$1.3B) is also being proposed for mineral transport. Recent high-level meetings, including one with Donald Trump, signal warming ties between Pakistan and America.

Interestingly, the U.S. had earlier designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a terrorist group, indirectly supporting Pakistan's efforts to suppress separatist movements. Now, the same region is attracting American economic interest.

This strategic pivot could upset China and create double pressure — from India and now Pakistan — altering the regional power dynamics. For India, this development could be a significant advantage in the China containment strategy.
