Desert X Salento to Popayan Columbia Day 9 Sweet Roads

Desert X South America road trip Day 9 Salento to Popayan 334KM Routa 25. We ride south out of the coffee country into the sugar cane farmlands. Lots of huge slow moving sugar cane trucks with 5+ trailers! More major road works on route a bit of off-road manoeuvring required. Ended the day entering Popayan more traffic chaos. Watch out for the local buses they stop for no-one!

It's a beautiful city founded in 1537. Features the domed, neoclassical Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption and the 17th-century Church of La Ermita.

We stayed in the Hotel Dann Monastario Popayan a beautiful classical building just right after a long days ride. Lots of good restaurants nearby.
