Valence, also known as Valence-d'Agen, is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region in southern France.
The official name of the commune, as reported by the Official Geographical Code of INSEE, is Valence. However, the name "Valence-d'Agen" is commonly used.
Founded in the 13th century by Edward I (King of England), Valence was therefore an English bastide.
Valence is a pleasant market town with an attractive stone and brick market hall in the centre and surrounding this are some pleasant arcaded buildings built in a mix of stone and brick.
Market day is Tuesday morning and takes place under the hall.
Worth looking out for in Valence are its lavoirs (wash houses) and its fountains.
