While camping at Elkmont Campground in Great Smoky Mountains National Park I had the perfect opportunity to explore what's left of this abandoned town. Elkmont was once a resort town for those who wished to escape city life for some peace a nature. However, with the creation of the national park, Elkmont is now a ghost town. Right from the campground it's super easy to explore the restored section of Elkmont, which was at the time called Daisy Town. I prefer the ruins over the restored sections, which also happened to be fairly easy to find. The ruins of Elkmont are located along both Jake's Creek Trail and the Little River Trail. (They also happen to include the well known and very photogenic troll bridge, located just off of Little River Trail)
