I love raising the Bombyx Mori silk moths but they do require some assistance occasionally. In the video I open a cocoon and tell you a little bit why I need to do this. Of course I don’t open all cocoons while raising this silk moth but the majority of the time these moths will get stuck while trying to hatch.
You can usually tell if a moth is stuck in his cocoon because they will poop inside and it leaves a small stain on the cocoon. If you are raising these moths and notice this you may need to help them.
If the moth has left a stain on his cocoon please be extra careful while opening them because the moth will be wriggling inside, but if the moth is in his pupa stage it is a lot easier to open it.
