The trammel net is one of the most emblematic modern fishing techniques in Mallorca. We were on board two artisanal fishing vessels, the Sito I and the Ponero, to document fishing with the "tresmall" technique, which is practiced both coastal and out in the deep-sea. This method is used to catch species of great commercial interest, such as lobster and red scorpionfish. With the help of professionals Joan Conill, Joan Torres, and David Breijo, we learned about the fisherman's life, from the early morning departure from the port to the practice of setting up and casting the nets into the sea, to mending the nets upon returning home.
