New Super Lucky's Tale

Synopsis
Super Lucky's Tale is a 3D platformer video game developed by Playful Corp. and published by Microsoft Studios for Windows 10 and Xbox One. It is the sequel to Lucky's Tale, a virtual reality 3D platformer for the Oculus Rift. The game was released as a launch title for the Xbox One X on November 7, 2017. The game is featured as part of the Play Anywhere program. It was announced during the Xbox presentation at E3 2017. In March 2018, the game became part of Xbox Game Pass.

An expanded version of the game titled New Super Lucky's Tale for Nintendo Switch was revealed on the Nintendo Direct livestream at E3 2019 on June 11, 2019 and released on November 8th, 2019.


Yoshi Island

Synopsis
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a 1995 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. To reunite baby Mario with his brother Luigi, who has been kidnapped by Kamek, the player controls Yoshi, a friendly dinosaur, through 48 levels while carrying Baby Mario. As a Super Mario series platformer, Yoshi runs and jumps to reach the end of the level while solving puzzles and collecting items. In a style new to the series, the game has a hand-drawn aesthetic and is the first to have Yoshi as its main character. The game introduces his signature abilities to flutter jump and produce eggs from swallowed enemies.

The game is well known for its unique artstyle, which heavily contrasted with the pre-rendered artstyle of contemporary games popularized by Donkey Kong Country. After four years of development, Yoshi's Island released in Japan in August 1995, and worldwide two months later. Some of its special effects were powered by a new Super FX2 microchip. The game was ported to the Game Boy Advance with few changes in 2002. This version was rereleased for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 and the Wii U Virtual Console in 2014. The Super NES version was rereleased for the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017 and the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Yoshi's Island received "instant" and "universal acclaim", according to IGN and review aggregator Metacritic, and sold over four million copies. Reviewers praised the art, sound, level design, and gameplay, and posited Yoshi's Island as a masterpiece and one of the greatest video games of all time. The game brought newfound renown to both Yoshi as a character and Miyamoto's artistic and directorial career. The distinct art style and Yoshi's signature characteristics established in Yoshi's Island would carry throughout a series of cameos, spin-offs, and sequels, including the 1997 Yoshi's Story, 2006 Yoshi's Island DS, 2014 Yoshi's New Island, and 2019's Yoshi's Crafted World. It was the last 2D game in the Super Mario series released on a home console until New Super Mario Bros. Wii over a decade later.


Ratchet & Clank

Synopsis
Ratchet & Clank is a 3D platform video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2 in 2002. Ratchet & Clank is the first game in the series and precedes Going Commando.

The game follows the anthropomorphic character Ratchet meeting the robot Clank on his home planet. Clank discovers that the villainous Chairman Drek of the Blarg race who plans to create a new planet for his species, destroying other planets in the process. Clank convinces Ratchet to help him in his mission to gain the help of the famous superhero Captain Qwark.

The game offers a wide range of weapons and gadgets that the player must use to defeat numerous enemies and solve puzzles on a variety of different planets in the fictional "Solana" galaxy. The game also includes several mini-games, such as racing or hacking, which the player must complete to proceed. The game was very well received by critics, who praised the graphics, gameplay, voice acting, audio, soundtrack and comedic approach to the story; some criticism was levelled at the camera, the characterization of the lead characters and the low level of difficulty in early stages.

Fourteen years later, a movie based on the original game was released in theaters on April 29, 2016 along with a PlayStation 4 reimagining based on that work released earlier on April 12, 2016 in North America.
