Identify Who Is Going to Buy Your Physical Therapy Practice

There are different buyers for different physical therapy practices. Each buyer is looking for something different. A large corporate buyer or private equity needs a physical therapy practice to be earning $2M in EBITDA before it can even be considered as an acquisition target.

At the other end of the spectrum, a physical therapist that has been working as a W2 employee and wants to step into the world of business ownership may not be able to afford a physical therapy practice selling for $500,000.

If your physical therapy practice is in the dead zone between what a single therapist can afford and what an investor is willing to buy then you might be looking for buyers outside the world of therapy. For example, a licensed massage therapist (LMT) might be looking for a way to attract new clients with a focus on medical massage. Buying a physical therapy practice could be the way that LMT chooses to acquire these new clients.

Or a chiropractor might be looking to quickly launch a physical therapy addition to a chiropractic clinic.
