Choosing companies to invest in long term
My criteria:
1. Fundamentals- a company must have strong fundamentals or it’s not even worth investing in them. Monitor fundamentals each quarter (or sooner if something falls apart) to make sure they are still on track
2. Macro environment- what are the younger generations interested in. This will be the way in the future. What do governments see for the future? I.e. regulations around renewable energy and EVs
3. Sentiment- more of a near term mover, but this can present good buying opportunities if there is unnecessary FUD

Long term investing takes patience and grit during times like these. I relate it to the weather. When it’s bad weather outside you hunker down and get work done inside and complete project so that on nice days you can relax and enjoy them. During difficult bear market times like this I hunker down and work hard on my portfolio so that when we go into bull markets I can sit back and relax while I enjoy watching my portfolio grow.
