Fretless Guitar Improvisation with Strymon El Capistan & DIG Plugins - Part 1

Описание к видео Fretless Guitar Improvisation with Strymon El Capistan & DIG Plugins - Part 1

This a brief set of 2 videos that combine fretless improvisation with Strymon delay plugins. Great combination! The El Capistan is on through the whole video, and the setting does not change. Additionally, I used 3 different DIG settings, both separate and combined in series. The El Capistan is always first. After that, the signal routes through DIG plugins from left to right on the screen. I occasionally change the settings, but mostly I just turn the 3 DIG plugins on and off.

I have the Strymon El Capistan in pedal format, and it is my favorite tape delay pedal. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to purchase the plugin version. Sure, I could send a line-level recorded guitar track to the El Capistan and then back to my interface, but I am lazy. Automation is a plugin perk as well. DIG is cool too. I've never used the pedal before, so this was my first experience with DIG.

Single chain is simple. Custom fretless Vigier Frankenstein guitar into the low gain channel of my Frenzel WC30 amp, preamp out to the Antelope Audio converters. Positive Grid Bias Amp 2 emulation of Roland Jazz Chorus power section and cab. The Bias Amp 2 plugin is on the master track followed by a subtle tape plugin setting. I opted for the tape plugin instead of limiter this time. It sounded more natural that way. The Strymon plugins are on the channel inserts, which puts them between the preamp and power amp (like putting the pedals in the effects loop of a physical guitar amp).
