Muhammad Anisur Rahman, [Anu Muhammad (Bengali name: আনু মুহাম্মদן - , born 1956], is a Finest Economist in our generation. He is a patriot and a political activist in Bangladesh. He is a professor at Jahangirnagar University where he has taught economics since 1982 and taught anthropology from 1991 to 2005. He was a visiting professor at University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba in 2001 and stayed at Columbia University as a visiting Scholar in 1993. His research is focused on globalization, social transformation, gender issues, Non-governmental organizations and energy.

Bangladesh police department should be proud of Anu Muhammed who is sacrificing his time and energy to save national resources of Bangladesh so that police can have their jobs in a free country. On the contrary Anu Muhammad was injured by the brutal police attack on him in September 2009 during a demonstration protesting exploration deals granted to two international oil companies. This event lead to a protest by the Bangladesh Economic Association and to an open letter condemning the event signed by academics from around the world.

Bangladesh police is seriously violating human rights and freedom of speech. There is no laws and orders in the country. Police is kidnapping businessman and asking for ransom from families. Bangladesh police are now acting like vicious dogs.
