The FG800 models have been developed based on extensive research as well as feedback from players, dealers, customers and industry experts. Yamaha found that lots of things didn't need to be touched, but there was a consistent theme: People wanted to go back towards the original FG180 sound with just a little more volume, a little more bass, a little more oomph. To achieve this, Yamaha relied on a proprietary software that the Yamaha Elemental Technology division created to analyse and simulate the tonal characteristics of musical instruments, from a construction viewpoint. This way, they were able to understand exactly what the bracing was doing to the top of the guitar to create the instrumentâl voice and they could backwards engineer a design to give us the tone that the customers desired.
