In This Video Arun Pandit Ji Talk About Chandra was married to 27 Nakshatra daughters of Prajapati Daksh. But among all these girls, Chandra loved the skilled girl named Rohini more. Because of which all the other girls got angry and complained about this to Daksh.

Daksh got angry and cursed the moon to decay. Due to the curse, Chandra started suffering from tuberculosis and his arts started deteriorating. After which Chandradev did penance to Lord Shiva to get freedom from this curse of Daksh.

Pleased with Moon's penance, Lord Shiva not only saved Moon's life but also placed her on his head. According to beliefs, it is said that when Chandra was counting his last breaths. Then Lord Shiva blessed him with rebirth during Pradoshkaal and wore him on his head. After which, despite being like deploy Chandra did not die.

After the boon of Lord Shiva, Chandra gradually started getting healthy again and appeared as full moon on Purnima. The place where Moon did penance for Lord Shiva is called Somnath.

However, according to beliefs, even today, due to the curse of Daksh, the size of the moon keeps decreasing and increasing, but even today the moon is seen in its full size on the full moon day.
