Sound test using what is widely considered to be the cheapest hotswap keyboard kit. Frequently available for $20-$30 USD, this is a great way to try keyboard modding. It runs off 2 AAA batteries, and can only be connected via the included wireless USB dongle (although some versions also support Bluetooth connectivity). I actually got this one for about $27 USD off AliExpress, but had half of it refunded to me due to the fact that 2 of the screwholes were stripped out of the box.

Paired with cheap modding materials, cheap switches, and relatively cheap keycaps (although, you could go much cheaper if desired)... You can get a very good sound/feel at a very reasonable price.

Any tests I do with the stock Akko Jelly Purple switches are more for extablishing a baseline out-of-the-box experience. I would NOT recommend you get these switches if you weren't planning to give them some TLC (lubing, mainly).

Switches: Akko Jelly Purple (stock)
Keycaps: CannonCaps Esper + NicePBT Sugarplum (Cherry Profile, Dye-Sub PBT)
Cable: CableMod Pro Straight Aviator Cable (Midnight Black)
Deskmat: YUNZII Desk Pad Mouse Mat -Starry (D)
Microphone: Blue Yeti (w/ windscreen, ~8" above center of board)
Camera: Samsung Galaxy S22

Mods:
-Lubed stabilizers with 205g0
-3 layers masking tape (3/4'' wide, Scotch) on PCB
-replacement of case foam with cutout of cheap hand towel
-replaced some of the plate screws with larger ones (several of the screwholes came stripped). This causes some adjacent keycaps / switches to not QUITE sit flush (due to bigger screwheads). But at least the plate is held down.

I DO NOT ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE ANYTHING IN YOUR KEYBOARD THAT COULD POSE A FIRE HAZARD! (or any other type of hazard). DO YOUR RESEARCH AND MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK!
