I’m back working in the chapel at the château — it’s a modest but beautiful space with three carved wolf heads and a view over the moat. This time, I’m giving it a proper clean, sweeping out damp patches, and checking how moisture has been wicking up from the water outside.
The windows are fragile and need attention, but the reflections they cast across the ceiling are incredible. Sadly, the water level in the moat is about 12 inches too high, which explains some of the problems with the foundations — another project on the growing list!
As I go through each section, I’m looking for places that hold moisture so everything can properly dry before I start scrubbing, repainting, and doing repairs. Despite the peeling paint and damp patches, the chapel is looking a lot better with every sweep.
