Is The Original Black Magic Pocket Still Worth It In 2020?

Описание к видео Is The Original Black Magic Pocket Still Worth It In 2020?

Many years ago when I decided to upgrade from my Canon 650D, I ended up buying a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC) for short. I shot several projects with it, and had it for 3-4 years before then upgrading to my Canon C100 mark ii.

But now that the original BMPCC has 2 successors, the BMPCC 4k and 6k, I thought I'd make a video about my original BMPCC and see what it's like compared to the current camera offerings in 2020.

It's still a bit awkward to use, and I'm still very annoyed that my Metabones Speedbooster broke, but I had forgotten how nice it is having RAW footage where you can recover an unbelievable amount of dynamic range in post.

There's plenty of BMPCC RAW footage in this video. Some of it I shot specially for this review, and some from old projects. I should point out that several of the shots and projects in this video are several years old, some are as much as 5 years ago. Naturally I've improved significantly in terms of cinematography and colour grading since then, however I think the footage still illustrates the points in this video.

Hope everyone's doing well and staying safe from the Coronavirus!
