Arches National Park in Utah is an impressive wonderland of over 2,000 natural stone arches, which is the largest concentration of arches anywhere in the world! This landscape will amaze every visitor with its beautiful sandstone formations. We visited Arches National Park in the evening in July and were amazed at how a glowing sunset brought the colors of the rocks to life. The sunset painted the sky with stunning shades of pink, orange, and gold.

Arches National Park is in the southeastern portion of the state of Utah near the city of Moab Utah. The National Park encompasses 119 square miles. Arches was originally designated as a National Monument in April of 1929. It was redesignated as a National Park on November 12, 1971. Arches National Park is a high desert. The highest elevation is 5,653 feet at Elephant Butte. The lowest elevation is 4,085 feet at the visitor center.

The scenic drive at Arches National Park is 19 miles one way and takes visitors to some of the more well-known features of the park, including the Park Avenue Viewpoint, Balanced Rock, Double Arch, Parade of Elephants, Delicate Arch, Skyline Arch, and the Devils Garden. The scenic drive is the only way into and out of the park, so it can become very crowded at certain times. The National Park service instated a timed-entry reservation system a few years ago. Please note if you are going at high times during peak season, you will need a timed-entry reservation.
