US News: Shashi Tharoor Slammed By Indian-American Hindu Leader Over Controversial Remarks

Indian-American leader Suhag A Shukla has strongly rebutted Congress MP Shashi Tharoor over his recent controversial remarks. Writing for The Print, Shukla accused Tharoor of misrepresenting the Indian-American diaspora’s work and credibility.

She emphasized that the diaspora has long contributed quietly to strengthening India-US ties, always within the boundaries of US law. “We are not proxies for the Government of India,” Shukla stated, defending the community’s dual identity as proud Americans with cultural ties to India.

She also warned that Tharoor’s words could embolden those doubting Indian-Americans’ loyalty and highlighted legislative pressures that may lead to unfair surveillance. Shukla called on Indian politicians to choose their words carefully and respect the diaspora’s position.
