Tony Dorsett is a former American football running back renowned for his career in the National Football League (NFL) with the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. Hailing from western Pennsylvania, Dorsett excelled in college football at the University of Pittsburgh, where he guided the Panthers to a national championship during his senior year in the 1976 season and earned the prestigious Heisman Trophy. Selected as the first-round pick, second overall, by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1977 NFL draft, Dorsett began his professional career. He was honored as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and remained with the Cowboys for 11 seasons until 1987. Dorsett clinched a Super Bowl victory in his debut season against the Denver Broncos, with whom he concluded his final season due to injuries before retiring.
