KARATAY MADRASA
Karatay Madrasa was built by Emir Celaleddin Karatay during the reign of İzzeddin Keykavus II in of 649 Hijri (according to the Muslim Calendar; 1251 in Gregorian Calendar). The madrasa was built in the Seljukian era to teach hadith and hermeneutics studies. The entry is through the door made of sky-blue and white marble at the east. The door is a masterpiece example of Seljukian era stone-masonry. It was adorned with calligraphy and patterns. There are epigraphs about the building of the madrasa above the door. Selected verses from Qur’an and hadiths are embossed on the other surfaces of the door.
