Philippines Travel - $5 Tattoo from Whang Od, The World's Oldest Tattoo Artist

In Episode 3 of our Philippines travel series, we embark on a thrilling journey to meet Apo Whang-Od, the world's oldest tattoo artist at 107 years old. After four weeks of exploring the beaches and towns of the Philippines, we drive 15 hours on treacherous roads to reach the remote village of Buscalan, home to the Kalinga tribe. Apo Whang-Od is the last true Kalinga tattoo artist, practicing the ancient art of batok, a traditional method using thorn and charcoal. We share our experience getting a tattoo from her, learning about the rich cultural history of the Kalinga people, and spending time with the welcoming villagers.
