May 15, 2025: As the mercury rises, employers must be ready for heat illness requirements. Temperatures rising above 80⁰ F have been considered dangerous in certain circumstances, especially for indoor workers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) proposed a rule last year on Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings. Eleven states (and rising) jumped ahead of OSHA with heat standards of their own, with more states considering steps to get ahead of the heat.
