The UDO Super 6 features 2 digital oscillators (DDS1 and DDS2, both FPGA based) running at 50MHz which allows for incredibly high resolution sounds. It's binaural audio signal path supports 6 voices of polyphony and elevates the stereo width via additional panning and super wave detuning. In non-binaural mode, 12 voices are available for use.

DDS1 offers sine, sawtooth, square, triangle, noise and wavetable waveshapes and features a centroid oscillator + six sister oscillators that can be dynamically de-phased in the stereo field. DDS2 has sine, sawtooth, square, triangle, noise, pulse waveshapes and can be hard-synced to DDS 1, operated in LFO mode, as a sub oscillator, or used for Audio-In. Both oscillators can be cross-modulated for harmonically rich sounds, textures and FM timbres. The Super 6 also has LFO and ENV modulation of DDS 1 & DDS 2 pitch and PW/PWM control.

The Super 6 has two LFOs. LFO1 has multiple waveshapes (tri, square, S&H, saw) and low and high-frequency modes, with speeds from 0.05 Hz to 20 kHz enabling it to act as a third oscillator. It supports LR phase control for stereo binaural effects, can be free-running/reset/one-shot modes, and can sync to arpeggiator/sequencer or external clock. There is also keyboard tracking for high-frequency LFO rates which is great for FM sounds. LFO2 has a sine-wave and delay control, and operates as a global LFO.

The UDO Super 6's mixer adjusts the level between DDS 1 and DDS 2 audio signals. It can also operate in X-Fade mode, allowing split points to be set on the keyboard and crossfading between two distinct sounds. The Super 6's main filter is an SSI2144 analog 24 dB low-pass filter with resonance, two levels of overdrive and keyboard tracking. It also has a high-pass filter with fixed frequency or can be linked to the LPF for bandpass response.The filters can be modulated via ENV1/2, LFO1 and DDS2 for filter FM sounds.

The UDO Super 6 features an analogue VCA with fixed or variable modulation from envelope (ENV 2), LFO 1, and dynamics control for velocity sensitivity. ENV1 features HADSR controls and can be inverted or looped for use as an LFO or FM source. ENV 2 features ADSR controls and can be routed to multiple destinations.

Also on board the Super 6 is a flexible modulation matrix for additional sound design possibilities, voice assign modes (poly1/2, solo, legato, unison), arpeggiator, 64-step sequencer (programmable note, rest, slide, accent and length), 24-bit 192 kHz delay and chorus effects, portamento, octave control, stereo audio input, 49-key Fatar keyboard with velocity and aftertouch, pitch/modulation bender, MIDI In/Out/Thru, headphone jack, stereo out, sustain and expression inputs, and storage memory for 128 patches.

The UDO Super 6 is a fantastic hybrid synthesizer for pads, leads, basses, ambient soundscapes, strings and PPG-style textures. It has a very crisp and full presence, and is a joy to improvise, explore and perform with. The Super 6's build quality is also very impressive, and made to last. While the firmware is still early days, the Super 6 is one of the most exciting and sonically rich synthesizers to be released in quite some time.
