These slides were assembled with permission from the archives of the Connemara Pony Research Group and represent horses from around the world with a similar abnormal condition of the hoof wall. Many farriers and veterinarians see this problem and it is easily confused with white line disease, seedy toe and other common hoof problems. While the problem has not been extensively documented, genetic research at the University of California at Davis has identified a mutation in the DNA of affected horses.
