Should You Pay $20 For A Fake Apple Watch Leather Link?

I’ll be honest with you, it’s hard to find a knockoff Apple product that is comparable to the original but out of the 5 look-alike straps that we tested over the last few months, we only found one product that we ~might use instead of the original Apple Leather Link. Out of products from Pinnacle Luxuries, Astra Straps, Lucid Straps, Synchro and Tasikar the only product that we’d stomach to use over the original Leather Link are the bands from Synchro. Why? Because we find didn’t any annoyances with the strap.

The biggest thing about the knock-offs is the sizing. Apple Leather Link bands allow you to choose between S/M and L/XL which allows you to pick a length that allows you to adjust the strap. With the fake leather link bands, the straps are long enough for the largest wrists but those with smaller diameter wrists are stuck with straps that feel too tight.

Another issue with the size of the straps has to do with the magnets. They are either too small or not strong enough so you end up getting kinks in the band which causes extra wear and tear. The Astra Strap band started to split along the edge after 2 months of usage.

Oddly enough, there were products that were sold from different vendors but looked exactly the same. Products from Astra and Lucid looked identical. The straps from Pinnacle Luxuries also looked similar though the overall quality was lacking on the Pinnacle Luxuries bands.

The Tasikar band was the worst performing band in the group as it lacked the one-way magnets found on all the other bands which meant the strap was attracted to anything metallic. We used magnetic iKea desk pads in our studio and our hands felt handcuffed to our desks with the Tasikar bands.
