This serves as the third video of this series. If you are working on building security systems or applied cryptography, you probably have come across different types of encryption schemes and if you are looking for a starting point, you are at the right place. In this video, I talked about the most popular encryption algorithm Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in brief, and then I demonstrated how to write a simple code in python to encrypt and decrypt files. I used the pyAesCrypt library.
To make understanding easier, I broke down the process into smaller independent steps and explained each of them. I went over the 3 similar stream modes, namely CBC, CFB, and OFB. Although their inner workings are different, they have a similar look when it comes to usage using the crypto library, so I clubbed them together. Next, I will post a follow-up video to explain how to use the CTR and the ECB mode.
