Описание к видео A Celebration of Life: David R. Levine

David Rayner Levine passed away on January 11, 2024, beloved husband of Regina (Pugh) Levine and father of Naomi (Levine) Herrera and Sylvia Levine and grandfather to four grandchildren. David was born in New York City, grew up in Chicago, and spent time in California and New Jersey before settling in Boston. He attended the Francis W Parker Elementary and High School and then Harvard University class of ‘65. He went on to get a PhD in Computer Science at Stanford University graduating in ‘73. He was a Professor at Rutgers and Boston College followed by a long career in computer languages as a compiler expert for the tech industry.

David was a kind, thoughtful, gentle and patient person. He was incredibly intelligent and a creative problem solver. He loved traveling, mountains, trains, history, languages, theater, and music. He was fascinated by computers and electronics, loved to build and fix things, and was always figuring out how things worked. He loved his family and playing with his grandchildren. He was an active and beloved member of his community; neighborhood association, senior fix-it shop, and church. He kept in touch with family and friends from around the world over the years. After his retirement and until he was no longer able, he regularly volunteered in inner city high school math and science classes. He lived his life to the fullest in the way he wanted, quietly and with curiosity and joy.

Today we celebrate David's life and impact on our own lives. We welcome thoughts, stories, and memories about David's life.
